Soil and grape varieties |
|
The Costieres de Nimes Chateau Roubaud wines owe their quality to the work done by the successive generations of owners, to the wine-making techniques but also to the quality of the domain's soil itself. |
The vineyards grow on the poor lands where the red rolled river-rock, come down from the Alps, along with the dry climate and abundant sunshine, insure a perfect maturity and low yield necessary to make quality Costieres de Nimes wines. |
Total surface of vineyards within appellation Costieres de Nimes : 70 hectares. |
Percentage of grape varieties: 30% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Carignan, 10 %Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Roussanne, Clairette, Ugni blanc ...
|
In these flourishing vineyards, the flavorful Grenache variety balances perfectly with the powerful aromatic Syrah, and with the Mourvèdre, to create superb red wines. |
The Syrah variety, along with the Grenache, produces a delicious rosé, very fruity, the perfect "summer wine." The dry and aromatic white wines made from Roussanne and Grenache Blanc grapes, rounds out the Chateau Roubaud production. |
With the incomparable color and aroma, these wines of low yield, give proof to the wine-making destiny of the round river-rock filled soils. |
