Chateau Roubaud in Costieres de Nimes
The Domain
25 kilometers from Nimes, the Chateau Roubaud winery has been in the same family since 1900. Started with 26 hectares of vineyards, the domain increased generation by generation to its present 50 hectares.
Already in 1927, the owner Louis Thomas sold his Chateau Roubaud wine in bottles, allowing him to benefit early on from the appellation Côtes du Rhone".
In 1950, after the creation of the the "V.D.Q.S." appellation (Wine Delimited of Superior Quality), Chateau Roubaud became one of the most highly reputed vineyards of the areas. Louis Thomas took great pride in being the first to bottle his wine labeled Costieres du Gard.
Louis Thomas retired in 1975, and his daughter Annie Molinier took over the business, maintaining the tradition of quality and dynamism that contributed to the Chateau Roubaud wines being included in the list of controlled appellation Costieres de Nimes in 1986.
The Chateau Roubaud wines produced today by the fifth generation of owners, Françoise et Guillaume Molinier, are regularly awarded by gold and silver prizes at competitions in Paris and Macon.
